Eddie Murphy’s comedy A Thousand Words had been on the shelf for years until it finally got a February release date to capitalize on the heat that Murphy would presumably generate as the host of the Oscars. Whoops! But there’s no going back now, and here we have a trailer for the movie, which casts Murphy as a man who talks way too much until a magic curse gives him only a thousand more words to say before he dies. The lesson, we presume, is that being forced to choose his words will make Murphy’s character a more tolerable man; instead, it encourages him to wildly mug on a scale that could be glimpsed from space. Remember how people thought that Tower Heist augured the return of energetic Eddie, and that was supposed to be a good thing? One look at this overcaffeinated trailer and you’ll wish you were watching comatose-talk-show-guest Eddie instead.
