Whether or not it’s the Modern Family effect, two development deals were announced today for sitcoms about families with unusual parent-to-child ratios. At CBS, Peter Farrelly (most famous for making There’s Something About Mary, The Three Stooges, etc. with brother Bobby) is going to write and direct a comedy about two kids being raised by a group of six parents, while over at Fox, comedian and Chelsea Lately regular Josh Wolf will co-write a sitcom with Spike Feresten (Seinfield) and Michael Morris (Brothers & Sisters) about his experience being a single dad to his three children. To the cynical eye, these shows might seem like a reverse Brady Bunch and a quasi Guy Under Fire, but either way, the sitcom (original or not) continues to come back.
