Ryan Murphy’s long-gestating film adaptation of Larry Kramer’s play The Normal Heart is a go. Murphy had attached Mark Ruffalo early on to play AIDS activist Ned Weeks, and now the Hollywood Reporter writes that after a long courtship, Murphy has also secured Julia Roberts to play wheelchair-bound Dr. Emma Brookner, the role that won Ellen Barkin a Tony last year. Also added to the cast: Alec Baldwin as Ned’s brother, Matthew Bomer as Ned’s boyfriend Felix, and Jim Parsons, who’ll reprise his role from the revival as a Southern activist. You have opinions on this casting, so let’s hear them!
