Questlove has never been afraid to speak his mind, as the Roots frontman proved in November when he played a controversial song to welcome Michelle Bachmann onto Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. (Admittedly, he’s a little more tongue-tied if his crush object Alison Brie is in the room.) Last night on Watch What Happens Live!, though, Questlove even called out an NBC colleague: “Tina Fey, you are never nice to the Roots!†he said. “We’re from Philadelphia. Be nice to the Roots! Oh, I’m gonna be in so much trouble.†He further explained, “Fellow Philadelphians, we bond with each other, and it’s been hard trying to bond with her.†Today, though, Questlove tried to backtrack on Twitter, writing, “the Fey stuff was JOKES. not newsworthy. i friggin love her.†Whatever the status of his unrequited friendship, Questlove has moved on to a more important, er, quest: He’s trying to convince the Fallon powers-that-be to let him play the immortally bad Boogie Nights anthem “You’ve Got The Touch†to welcome guest Mark Wahlberg. Make it happen!
