If so, please let us direct your attention to the first remarkable offering of the calendar year, courtesy of the Scissor Sisters. “Shady Love,†co-written by none other than beloved Harlem rapper Azealia Banks, is the first single from the band in over a year, and it goes big on the shiny, pulsing glamour pop, with some vocals from Azealia under the name “Krystal Pepsy†(sure!). But more important, the video features a troupe of a little kids staging a bizarre variety show, meaning: awkward dance routines, a cardboard convertible, tweens pumping iron, and one impressively nonchalant kid in a zebra-stripe hoodie, lip-synching about Obama. 2012 is looking super weird and blue-state so far.
