Happy 2012! Were you waiting for a music video to help you gather your feelings and expectations for the coming year? If so, please let us direct your attention to the first remarkable offering of the calendar year, courtesy of the Scissor Sisters. “Shady Love,†co-written by none other than beloved Harlem rapper Azealia Banks, is the first single from the band in over a year, and it goes big on the shiny, pulsing glamour pop, with some vocals from Azealia under the name “Krystal Pepsy†(sure!). But more important, the video features a troupe of a little kids staging a bizarre variety show, meaning: awkward dance routines, a cardboard convertible, tweens pumping iron, and one impressively nonchalant kid in a zebra-stripe hoodie, lip-synching about Obama. 2012 is looking super weird and blue-state so far.
