Yesterday, the Daily Star, Britain’s top purveyor of quality fact-checked journalism, announced that Idol alum Adam Lambert would be the new face of Queen at this summer’s Sonisphere Festival. Rolling Stone (and Vulture) picked up the story but, both clearly suspicious, branded it a rumor, which nonetheless continued to spread like wildfire online. Until last night, when Lambert took to Twitter to set the record straight and clarify the deep respect he has for sensationalist media folk: “Oooh them clever reporters takin my quotes outta context … I haven’t confirmed any guest appearances. I was talking about the EMA’S. :)†Lambert performed with the iconic rock group at last year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. Six minutes later Lambert tweeted, “That being said, I’m truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!! :)†If it weren’t for the smiley faces, we’d totally think Lambert was sassing the Daily Star reporter.
