In Big Miracle, out today, Drew Barrymore plays a Greenpeace activist leading a national effort to rescue three trapped whales. It is Drew’s job to convince the world to care about Fred, Wilma, and Bam Bam (as the whales are named) — to remind them how tragic it is that a family of whales might die under the arctic ice. Luckily, this task comes easily to Drew, because she is very good at getting very visibly upset. When Drew Barrymore gets sad, she gets really, really sad. Whales, boys, phone calls coming from inside the house: No matter the cause, she really commits. To honor this achievement, Vulture now presents a salute to Drew Barrymore’s cinematic waterworks. Kleenex recommended.
