This week, courtesy of an ugly legal dispute between Star Trek’s Chris Pine and the talent agency he recently fired, we have learned exactly how much Pine gets paid to star in movies. According to a lawsuit filed by SDP Partners, who are seeking compensation, Pine made $3 million up front for Unstoppable, his runaway-train thriller with Denzel Washington, and $5 million for the upcoming spy rom-com This Means War. His initial Star Trek paycheck isn’t available, but he’ll reportedly earn $1.5 million, plus up to $500,000 “in backend compensation†for the second installment, and $3 million plus the same backend for a third. And if his Jack Ryan franchise actually goes through, he’ll earn $4, $8, and $12 million respectively for those three movies. In summary: It is good to be Chris Pine, and not just because he looks like that.
