The first round of the Best Sitcom Episode Ever Tournament is officially over, and the results are in. We had some victories that could be expected, some surprising upsets, and some extremely close calls. Round two will start on Monday, and things should get even more interesting as the best of the best are put against each other with no mercy. That’s how people really into competitions talk, right?
Anyways! On to the results. Below, you’ll see the updated brackets followed by notes on the results and then breakdowns of each battle’s final percentages.
Brackets
Notes
-The closest battle was definitely The Office (US) vs. The Office (UK), which was decided by a mere four votes. Other very close matchups were The Simpsons vs. Seinfeld, Community vs. Seinfeld, and Roseanne vs. Mary Tyler Moore.
-The biggest blow-out was I Love Lucy mopping the floor with The Honeymooners, 83.9% to 16.1%. Ouch.
-The most popular poll was the close Simpsons vs. Seinfeld battle, while the least popular was WKRP in Cincinnati vs. MASH.
-The only show left with two episodes in the tournament is Community, which managed to take down both 30 Rock and Seinfeld. The only way we’ll see those two Community episodes against each other is if they both make it to the finals, which I’d say is unlikely, but you never know.
-Round two voting starts on Monday!

Predictions for the next round? Trash talking? Disappointment in your favorite episode getting knocked out early? I, for one, was surprised to see the beloved Parks and Rec go down so hard. I guess it just had the bad luck of going up against the Arrested Development juggernaut right out of the gate. Poor Parks and Rec. We still love you!
