David Simon has revived his long-dormant site to weigh in on the Pulitzers, Levon Helm’s death, his ambivalence about blogging, and to clear up that time he kind of said he hated recaps and resented TV brackets. Well, not quite. He writes in part:
…the people who made [The Wire] did so to stir actual shit. We thought some prolonged arguments about what kind of country we’ve built might be a good thing, and if such arguments and discussions ever happen, we will feel more vindicated in purpose than if someone makes an argument for why The Wire is the best show in years. (Buffy, by the way, was the correct answer to that particular bracketfest.)
See! Those brackets are fun. For the record, Mad Men took Buffy out in our critics’ bracket, and Breaking Bad topped it in our readers poll. Thanks for reading, David Simon.
