Before the dust even settled on Ghost Coachella, rumors were flying that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were planning a national tour with the hologram of Tupac Shakur. (The key quote: “Dre has massive plans for this.â€) Vulture spent much of last week getting emotionally and logistically ready for the possibility of a Hologram Jamboree, and even Dre chimed in on his picks for a Dream lightbeam tour (Hendrix and Marvin Gaye, for the record) — but now he’s running the enthusiasm back a little. Below is a video of the man himself, straight from Indio, in which he attempts to end the speculation by assuring viewers that Ghost 2Pac was for Coachella only. And then he’s all like, “If a tour happens, we’ll see.†So Vulture’s current operating theory is that Dre wants to do the tour, but he’s worried that 675 celebrities won’t be enough, and so he’s trying to negotiate the per-hologram price down from $400,000. Stay tuned.
