When Vulture caught up with John Slattery at last night’s Tribeca Film Festival afterparty for The Giant Mechanical Machine (hosted by Stoli), we had to ask: Did Vulture really ruin the subway for him? “That was a joke!†Slattery assured us. “You guys took it seriously.†So he does still take the subway, we asked sheepishly? “Of course I do.†Meanwhile, Slattery’s Mad Men co-star Rich Sommer told us that he’s “definitely a subway rider,†and that the N and W are his favorite trains because he used to live in Astoria. As for Sommer’s preferred subway performers, his financial policy is, “If I’m going to sit and watch you, I’m going to pay you.†That includes mariachi bands (“I don’t mind mariachiâ€) and dancers (“If it catches my eye and holds my interest, absolutelyâ€). Since we were already talking trains, we asked Fred Armisen about his commuting habits; he prefers the 1, 2, and 3, it turns out, but has some issues with the local stops. “I think there’s one too many stops. 28th Street. You could go to 23rd or 34th, fine.†And that concludes your Famous People MTA Update for the day. Stay alert.
