When it was announced last October that Steve Carell and Channing Tatum would star in Foxcatcher for director Bennett Miller, we were pleased — we are highly in favor of all three of those men — but also a little confused: The movie is based on the true crime story of John du Pont, the paranoid heir who murdered Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz, and yet Tatum looked nothing like the hirsute Schultz. Problem solved: Variety reports that Mark Ruffalo is now onboard to play Schultz, while Tatum is still in the mix as his brother, Mark. This makes better visual sense! (Still, Ruffalo’s now got a lot of gym time on the docket.)
