Many movie studios view 3-D as an increased revenue stream, but renowned practitioner of real talk Ron Meyer sees it as something else: a little bit annoying. “I’m not a fan of 3-D as an audience member,†the chief of Universal said today at a conference at UCLA. “I’m too old for it. I don’t like wearing the glasses over my glasses.†That said, Universal recently made a lot of extra cash from 3-D showings of The Lorax, and Meyer admitted that he was still willing to embrace the added dimension, albeit with some reservations: “There is a place for it, an important place. I just don’t think we should kid ourselves that it is an end-all for the business.†Preach! (But still go see Titanic 3-D, it’s really good.)
