ABC and CBS Will Have New Comedies Too

Lost in all of the exciting new comedies melee, ABC and CBS announced some new shows as well. ABC will be bringing on four new comedies: Family Tools, The Neighbor, How to Live with Your Parents, and Malibu County. CBS is adding two: Partners and Friend Me. There is a show about Groupon!(?) And another where Reba McEntire again plays a character named Reba!(?) I won’t lie, none of these six shows seem particularly interesting, depending on your feelings towards Sarah Chalke and Brad Garrett. They just feel like those forgettable sitcoms that only getting noticed if they do something offensive. You can read the loglines below. Do any tickle a fancy or two?

ABC

THE NEIGHBORS - Family moves into a beautiful, surprisingly affordable gated community in New Jersey only to discover that all the neighbors are literally from another planet.

HOW TO LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS - Polly (Sarah Chalke), a recently divorced single mom, moves in with her eccentric parents, Elaine and Max (Brad Garrett), a couple who’s full of life but knows no boundaries.

MALIBU COUNTY - After her “good ‘ol boy†rock star husband cheats on her and burns through most of their money, Reba (Reba McEntire) divorces him and moves her three lods and mom from Nashville to the only asset they have left – a little house in Malibu. There, she’ll try to reignite her own singing career and keep herself and her three kids from being corrupted by the materialistic and rarified Malibu world she now calls home.

FAMILY TOOLS - Based on the British format WHITE VAN MAN, the show centers on a man (Kyle Bornheimer) who is forced to put his dreams on hold in order to take over the family handyman business from his father.

CBS

PARTNERS - Two architects — Charlie is straight, Louis (Urie) gay — whose friendship has lasted longer than either of their romantic relationships and almost seems like a weird marriage.

FRIEND ME - Twenty-something best friends, Evan (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Rob, move from their hometown of Bloomington, Indiana to Los Angeles to begin their exciting new lives working at Groupon.
