Last night’s Mad Men episode wasn’t a particularly exciting one, outfit-wise, but we had to come back to reality after last week’s fabulous parade of party gowns. Perhaps most exciting was the introduction of Alexis Bledel as Beth Dawes, a lonely Connecticut housewife who seduces a very willing Pete Cambell in her suburban living room. Peggy was even frumpier than usual, debuting a chunky, mustard-colored sweater in additional to her usual lineup of blouses, and we only got one very disappointing Joan outfit. However, big news: Meghan will no longer be a member of the corporate workforce, and thus trades in her office-appropriate dresses for more stage-friendly black tights. Click ahead to see this week’s style recap.

Megan's double-breasted business dress You know Megan's about to turn a corner when she starts dressing like Peggy at work.

Megan's vaguely sparkly silver dress What a non-smooth move on Meghan's part. Her dress is too mod for the office, but too informal for a sexy after-work rendezvous with Don or, well, anyone else. Even if she had done a better job with her lie, the dress would have eventually given her away.

Ginsberg's exceptionally terrible... everything It's like Easter (his shirt), Christmas (his tie), and some obscure holiday to celebrate poop (his jacket) all had a terrible drunken orgy on his torso. We know it's supposed to be funny, but really, the colorblindness jokes are going too far.
Peggy's unsurprising blouse Oh look, it's another pussy bow blouse. At least this one has a nice pattern.

Beth Dawes (Alexis Bledel!)'s beige intro A beige button-down worn over a matronly white bra is not the sexiest look, but Alexis Bledel beautiful and lonely and wants to mush her red lipstick all over Pete Campbell's face, so he doesn't care. Lesson learned: some dudes are into the Stepford Wife look.

Megan's non-Stepford Wife dress She won't succumb! She won't!
Beth's seersucker apron Nothing says "bored housewife" like the pearls/brooch/apron combination.

Megan's quitting outfit As if to point out that she will not be trod on, ever -- not that she ever was, but it's the only metaphor that works for this outfit -- Megan wears a very rug-like dress on her last day at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Her long gold necklace looks like it could be used to chain her to a desk, if Don really can't stand to see her go.
Joan's muddy florals Really, we only get one Joan outfit this episode, and it has to be this one?

Peggy's Cool Whip fail Peggy attempts to fill Megan's shoes at the Cool Whip test kitchen in this asymmetrical turtleneck dress. Points for ditching her usual blouses, but she's still no match for Megan in more than just the sartorial sense.
