Plenty of this awards season’s heavy hitters have already alighted to Venice or Toronto, but the New York Film Festival was keeping an ace up its sleeve: Programmers announced today that Ang Lee’s Life of Pi will have its world premiere when the 50th edition of the Festival opens on September 28. Robert Zemeckis will close NYFF with his Denzel Washington drama Flight.
