Clint Eastwood’s empty chair bit at the Republican convention didn’t hurt him at the box office too much. His baseball movie Trouble With the Curve brought in $13.2 million, putting it in a three-way tie with Jennifer Lawrence’s horror flick House At the End of the Street and dirty cop drama End of Watch, featuring a beefed-up, buzz cut Jake Gyllenhaal. However, the weekend’s other opener —  the Dredd 3D remake — was a bit of a disaster: It earned just $6.3 million, behind even last week’s Resident Evil: Retribution.
