Jason Sudeikis Officially Returning to ‘SNL’ (Update: Only Through December)

Three ‘SNL’ posts in a row? Sure! Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Jason Sudeikis will be on SNL this season. (UPDATE: Variety  is reporting that he will only appear through December. Just enough to get SNL through the election.) This comes after rumors that he’d leave along with Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg. Sure, he would be playing Mitt Romney, which is a high-profile part, but he told the LA Times last month that he wantded more than that:

“I’d like the opportunity to use creative muscles that … haven’t been asked of me for the first nine years that I’ve worked there. It could be some sort of title change. The least of the concerns is anything financial. I’m not buying a boat because of writing skits. It’s more having a desire to give more to a place I really believe in. To stay just for the juice of being in the public eye — of being Mitt Romney — is not enough.â€

Sudeikis has been with the show for a while, starting as a writer in 2003. With Kristen and Andy gone, you’d expect the show to focus mostly on him, Armisen, and Hader, which, yeah, isn’t half bad.
