Parks and Rec star Adam Scott and his wife Naomi Scott, a former Jimmy Kimmel Live producer, have just opened their own company, Gettin’ Rad Productions, and have signed on to produce at least three more 11-minute specials for Adult Swim. The Scotts’ first production was The Greatest Event in Television History, an Adult Swim short that debuted Thursday and quickly became a monstrous viral success, racking in over 100,000 views on YouTube and over 60,000 on the Adult Swim site in less than a week plus grabbing an impressive 1 rating in the 18-49 demo during its Adult Swim airing. The duo created and produced Greatest Event (which Adam co-directed), and it followed Adam Scott and real-life buddy Jon Hamm remaking the credits sequence to cheesy 80s cop show Simon & Simon. The Scotts have optioned the rights to Chuck Klosterman’s first novel, Downtown Owl, as a feature film project and have enlisted newbie writer Oren Uziel to pen the screenplay. Adam Scott comments, “It’s lovely and moving and funny. We just thought it’s a really great story about people that I relate to but also small enough that it would make a good first film out of the gate for us.â€
As for the 3+ upcoming Adult Swim specials they’ve contracted, Adam and Naomi Scott intend to recreate another classic TV title sequence next but haven’t decided on which one yet. Any suggestions, Internet?
