The Final Season of ‘30 Rock’ Begins Tonight; Here’s All the Internet’s Best ‘30 Rock’ Stuff from Today

The first episode of the 30 Rock’s final, 13-episode season airs tonight at 8/7c on NBC, and the internet’s going bananas. Here’s a rundown of all the cool 30 Rock stuff from today. First off, here’s a supercut of every terrible TGS sketch mentioned on the show ever.

Alec Baldwin dropped a major bombshell about the show on Twitter:

This doesn’t really add up, especially given that Alec Baldwin was talking about leaving 30 Rock earlier this year, and he’s been trying to leave the show on and off since the middle of its first season. Who knows, though? Maybe it’s true.

Alec Baldwin gushed to TVGuide about the big things that are in store for Tina Fey (who just signed a new four-year deal with NBC):

“The most compelling thing I think about is what’s going to happen to Tina, because she’ll be able to do whatever she wants to do…She’s such a fertile writer that there are so many things she can do,†Baldwin adds. “People say she’s going to be like [the late] Nora Ephron or Nancy Meyers, but she may end up being like Woody [Allen], where she writes, produces, directs and acts in films as well. I know there are a lot of great things ahead for Tina, especially.â€

The LA Times has a great piece about the show and its legacy. Here are the best parts:

Although “30 Rock†has never quite attained the cultural ubiquity of a series like “Seinfeld,†the show’s imprint is evident across today’s TV dial — from the smart but flawed heroines of “Girlsâ€Â and “The Mindy Project†to the postmodern, single-camera comedy of “Communityâ€Â and “Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23.â€â€œOur No. 1 goal when we started was to be allowed to finish it,†says executive producer Robert Carlock.Fey and Carlock originally set out to make a live-action version of “The Simpsons,â€Â a goal that Carlock now describes as “idiotic and untenable from a production standpoint.â€

Tina Fey gave an interview to TVGuide, where she divulged some Season 7 plot details and shared this funny memory about Comedy’s Enemy, Jeff Zucker:

“I still remember the look of disappointment on [NBC’s former CEO] Jeff Zucker’s face when we won the 2008 Golden Globe. He looked so bummed out, like, ‘Oh, God, now I can’t cancel it!’â€
