In an inspired bit of scheduling, The Guilt Trip is set to premiere in theaters on Christmas Day. Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand exploring the Jewish mother-son dynamic is the perfect after-dinner mint for any Jewish family’s Chinese food. Like Tommy Boy but with the fat guy swapped for a Jewish mom, the film follows the duo on a road trip in which Seth’s character tries to sell his invention to companies that buy random inventions. The comedy was written by Crazy, Stupid, Love. scribe Dan Fogelman and directed by The Proposal helmer Anne Fletcher. If you’re still looking for a perfect Hanukkah gift for your mother, consider a double feature of this and Les Misérables, which also comes out on Christmas. Or Django Unchained. Also an option.
