The ten-episode third season of Portlandia is set to premiere on Friday, January 4, at 10 p.m. with back-to-back episodes. The season will feature the return of Kyle MacLachlan’s lovable mayor character, Chloë Sevigny as Fred and Carrie’s new roommate, and hopefully Alec Baldwin as a meat salesman. Their first target, as seen in the clip below: meditation studio scheduling, naturally. If January is too far off to see a sketch mocking artisanal soda or whatever, don’t worry, IFC is airing a special episode on December 14 at 10:30 p.m. entitled “Winter in Portlandia.†The special will feature Peter and Nance struggling with some winter weight gain (too many local chickens, probably), Candace’s son visiting the feminist bookstore, and the bird-putter-on-ers’ new hotel. Considering the show always shoots in the summer, this is the fan’s first look at cold-weather Portland. Hope they like gray skies.
