HBO has officially renewed Lena Dunham’s series Girls for a third season consisting of 12 episodes, expanding from the previous season orders of 10 each. We reported the news first in November when Judd Apatow blabbed about the show receiving a third season renewal before the second season even started airing, and this week, Lena Dunham told Alec Baldwin Girls had been renewed during an appearance on his podcast Here’s the Thing, but a press release deployed today by HBO is the first official word from the network about the third season. It’s good news that fans are getting an extra two episodes next season, but it also means we’ll get an additional two weeks of misguided hatred towards Lena Dunham from bitter internet weirdos.
