Irons was at TCAs to promote his new PBS show Shakespeare Uncovered, and he explained its aspirations thus: “What you can do is to open up to this huge American audience … show them that actually television doesn’t end with Downton Abbey.†Then he dropped this gem: “A Ford Fiesta will get you there and give you a good time. But actually an Aston Martin … †Later he made fun of the enunciation on Downton and admitted he’s never even seen the show. He owns a fleet of Ford Fiestas, though.
