Trance Trailer: James McAvoy Forgets He Heisted the Heist From Heisters

With the Oscar nominations out of the way, finally we can breathe and remember that new movies exist. One such movie is (Oscar winner) Danny Boyle’s upcoming Trance. Starring James McAvoy as an art auctioneer and Vincent Cassel as an art thief (if you’re going to be typecasted, art thief is a hell of a type), the film is about a heist that went well and then wrong and then doubly wrong. Basically, post-heist, McAvoy steals the painting, only to get hit on the head and forget where he put it. He tries to work with psychologist Rosario Dawson to retrieve the memory, but (twist!) she’s working for Cassel. Then a bunch of crazy, psychological-thriller things happen. It’s just like the London Olympic Games’ opening ceremony, but with hypnosis and art thievery and … Never mind, it’s nothing like it. It’s set to open in March in the U.K., but there is no U.S. release date yet. (Man, the Olympics sure brought out Boyle’s nationalist streak.)
