Conan O’Brien has been tapped to host the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the annual event that sees a comedian performing before the President and Vice President, the press, and C-SPAN’s entire audience. White House Correspondents’ Association president Ed Henry made the announcement this morning that O’Brien will be hosting the event on April 27, 2013. The  dinner typically begins with the President delivering his own set of jokes at the top before the comedian takes the stage. The three previous hosts were Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and Jay Leno. This is Conan O’Brien’s second time hosting the event; the first was in 1995, under President Clinton, when he was still new to the late night world. This is definitely a strong choice for the gig, although no one will ever be able to top Stephen Colbert’s 2006 WHCA speech.
