In the wake of Amy Poehler, Lena Dunham, and Judy Greer landing big book deal for their memoirs, The Hollywood Reporter observes the growing trend of books from female comedians and comedic actors, reporting that Kristen Wiig and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are high on wish lists for the next big comedian-authored books. THR notes that books by male comedians haven’t been doing as well lately - partially because of a lack of said books that stand out and because women tend to buy more books than men. The recent wave of books by female comedians began with Chelsea Handler’s 2005 tome My Horizontal Life, with releases from Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling, Rachel Dratch, and Ellen DeGeneres following in its wake. We’ll have to wait and see whether publishers are able to woo Kristen Wiig and Julia Louis-Dreyfus into penning their own books. Until then, you’ll just have to guess how many chapters Wiig would devote to the diarrhea scene from Bridesmaids.
