It’s casting month for Robert De Niro. After joining boxing flick Hands of Stone and eyeing a role as Shia LaBeouf’s dad in Spy’s Kid, De Niro has signed on for Candy Store, where he’ll play an ex-cop who teams with Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby) to fight a crime organization in Brooklyn. It’s Traffic screenwriter Stephen Gaghan’s first feature directing gig since 2005’s Syriana. Brad Pitt and Denzel Washington were originally attached.
