Liv Tyler has joined the cast of Damon Lindelof’s HBO pilot The Leftovers, based on Tom Perrotta’s novel about life after the sorta-kinda Rapture. According to Deadline, Tyler will play Meg, a woman trying to avoid her upcoming wedding who becomes “a target for recruitment by members of an enigmatic cult.†She joins Justin Theroux, who was previously cast as a small-town police chief. This isn’t just Tyler’s first major TV role, it’s her first TV role, period: She’s never even done a guest arc anywhere or a soap back in her early days. Nothing! Welcome to TV, Liv Tyler. Make yourself comfortable.
