For a story every kid heard from his or her high school English teacher in the span of a few intriguing but straightforward minutes, The Weinstein Company’s Salinger documentary looks pretty damn intense. There are interviews with Tom Wolfe, Martin Sheen, Edward Norton, and Danny DeVito. There might be some campy reenactments. And there will definitely be discussion of Mark David Chapman and the secret novels Salinger allegedly stashed away in vaults. According to Deadline, Shane Salerno, a screenwriter who worked on Savages and Armageddon, spent more than eight years putting this thing together. It’ll see release Sept. 6.
