We reported last week that the planned TV version of Beverly Hills Cop is dead and that a fourth movie for the franchise is in the works instead. Now, details about Beverly Hills Cop IV are beginning to trickle in. Deadline reports that Paramount is moving full steam ahead on the project and that Eddie Murphy is already signed on, as are screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, a writing team who scripted Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol and the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.
Prior to the decision to turn the next entry in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise into a TV series, Murphy was working with director Brett Ratner on Beverly Hills Cop IV circa 2010 but jumped ship due to being unhappy with the project’s direction. Time will tell whether that happens again on this one.
