A week after the death of Glee star Cory Monteith in a Vancouver hotel room, series creator Ryan Murphy gave The Hollywood Reporter some idea of how the show will go on without Finn Hudson. (It seems that recasting the part was never an option.) Glee’s fifth season premiere has been pushed back to September 26, with production set to begin in August rather than the previously scheduled July. As for Monteith’s character, Murphy said, “The right thing to do for the show, at least at this point, is to have that character pass. When we do the tribute episode to that character, we’ll have to do it in a way where the cast members will not have to re-create feelings of grief that they’ve had this week — but do it in an upbeat way.†That somehow upbeat episode will be the season’s third, following a “long-planned†two-episode Beatles tribute that “will need to be tweaked slightly.â€
