For reasons that surpass understanding, it looks like Randy Jackson is going to be back on Idol after all, even though he hasn’t offered any meaningful guidance or advice in a very long time. But he won’t be a judge again — according to Deadline, Jackson will be the new Idol house mentor, taking over for Jimmy Iovine, who is leaving the show. Aaagh, this is what one gets for having wished Jimmy Iovine, who has on multiple occasions given harsh but needed advice to the contestants, would take over for Randy at the judges’ table. Man plans; God laughs; Randy Jackson continues to be on American Idol.
