True Blood’s Stephen Moyer has been cast as Captain Von Trapp in NBC’s upcoming Sound of Music live broadcast, the network announced today. Come December 5, he’ll be learning his do-re-mis opposite Carrie Underwood, who is playing Maria — but there’s still no word on who will be playing any of the other roles. (It’s not too late to cast Emma Stone as Leisl! Please, someone, hear our cries.) Moyer just played Billy Flynn in a staging of Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl (see below), but this still seems like an out-of-left-field choice. Well, an out-of-left-Edelweiss choice, anyway.
