Patton Oswalt Didn’t Get to Do Standup on ‘Conan’ in 1993 Because He Auditioned at Latino Comedy Night

Patton Oswalt went on Conan last night and told a story about how he auditioned to do standup on Conan O’Brien’s Late Night in 1993 but didn’t get to because he was trying out at the Laugh Factory’s “Latino Comedy Night.” The crowd at the Carlos Mencia-hosted standup show instantly booed Oswalt, ruining his chances with the Conan scouts, but at least he got this funny story out of it and we got to see him do a Carlos Mencia impression.
