In honor of Vanity Fair’s 100th anniversary, the magazine asked a bunch of filmmakers (Brett Ratner! Don Cheadle! Bryce Dallas Howard!) to each grab a decade and make a short video about it. Funnyman Judd Apatow got the nineties, and instead of merely playing Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit†over a montage of scenes from Beverly Hills 90201, he decided to interview comedian Maria Bamford about a slew of VF covers from that time: “Remember when that girl hit the other girl in the knee so she could win the Olympics?†Ha-ha, oh man, that was a good time.
