Ben Affleck Brought His Editor In to Save Runner Runner

The Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck gambling thriller Runner Runner came out last weekend to terrible reviews (8 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and complete audience disinterest (grossing a disappointing $7.7 million). The sad thing is, it was almost worse. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Affleck knew it was so bad that he offered to bring in his editor William Goldenberg to help. Goldenberg, who won an Oscar for Argo, is said to have improved the film, which is a sad thought. Though this effort shows that Affleck is already in Batman mode, trying his darndest to maintain a movie-star status. Affleck might be the hero we deserve, but not one we want to see in Runner Runner.
