Gaby Hoffmann, who once summoned the spirit of Dear Johnny in Now and Then, is returning to a cemetery for her guest role on Girls. “We went to an incredible cemetery in Queens,†she told us last night, at the fifteenth anniversary party of Project A.L.S. “Not because there’s a death! We were just taking a walk,†she added, careful not to reveal any spoilers. (The lovely June Squibb, who will play Hannah’s grandmother in season three, was not so tight-lipped when we spoke to her about her role.) What could Hoffmann tell us about her part? Our guess: She’ll play Hannah’s cousin. “I will say, it’s not that,†she said. “It would make sense that I would be her relative, because I think we look alike, but I’m not. That’s all I can say! But it’s really juicy.†Hoffmann, who will appear in four episodes and “do a little dancing in the show,†also confirmed our belief that the Girls set must be the funnest place to work (besides Vulture, of course). “Honestly, it’s the most fun set,†she said. “The combination of making such good work and doing it so well and to be able to have fun while doing it, is so rare … they’re just having a ball. And working really hard.†January 12, 2014.
