Today, Marc Jacobs announced the conclusion of his sixteen years as the creative director of French heritage brand Louis Vuitton. He is widely credited with reinvigorating the label’s identity from old-school luggage-maker to extravagant, high-luxury fashion house. Since he took the helm in the late nineties, he has produced a number of hit designs that will go down in fashion history: the Stephen Sprouse prints in 2000, the Richard Prince–inspired nurses in 2007, the bunny ears of 2009, Chinoiserie-style pajamas in 2010 … the list goes on.
