Alexa Chung Owes a Lot to Britney Spears

At last night’s MoMA 2013 Film Benefit, a Chanel-clad Alexa Chung shared her most defining teen fashion moment: “I was at school when Britney Spears’s ‘Baby One More Time’ came out,” she recalled. “I thought it was amazing. I was still at school, and I changed my uniform to look like [hers] — even though hers was an ironic wink at sexuality, and I was just an actual schoolgirl.” (Honestly, we’re not so sure about that “ironic wink” part.) Anyway, Chung’s literal interpretation had its desired effect: “I just looked slutty after that,” she confessed. “So thank you, Britney!”
