Eleanor Parker, best known for losing out — glamorously — to Maria in the film version of The Sound of Music, died Monday after complications from pneumonia. In addition to her role as Baroness Schraeder, Parker earned three Oscar nominations over the span of her career (for 1950’s Caged, 1951’s Detective Story, and 1955’s Interrupted Melody.) Parker was 91.
