Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, like Garfield the cat on a Monday, just can’t catch a break. All he wants to do is go on a nice New York City youths date with Emma Stone (join the club!), but all these super-villains are getting superer and supererer. There’s Paul Giamatti as Rhino, a man in a scary rhino costume (who makes silly faces). Jamie Foxx, as Electro, is electric (boogie-woogie-woogie). And Dane DeHaan, playing the role of Harry Osborn as if creepy James Franco had the part the first time instead of lazy James Franco. Someone is the Green Goblin (maybe DeHaan, maybe Chris Cooper), but it’s hard to see — also, to be fair, we were distracted by thoughts of where Spider-Man and Emma Stone were going on their date. On May 2 of next year, we’ll find out if it was a concert, a bar with a bocce court and/or ping-pong tables, a science party, or a restaurant that only serves branzino.
