Michael Pitt, most recently of Boardwalk Empire, will be guest-starring on Hannibal in a “major role,†according to EW. Pitt will play Mason Verger, a wealthy, dangerous patient of Dr. Lecter’s. In the 1999 Hannibal book, Verger is a child rapist whom Lecter disfigures and paralyzes during a therapy session gone sadistic, and Verger dreams of exacting revenge by feeding Lecter to wild boars. (Gary Oldman played the same character in the 2001 Hannibal movie.) Oh, sure, people think Michelle Williams is the one who got as far away from Dawson’s Creek as humanly possible, but they’re wrong. It’s definitely Michael Pitt.
