The Lonely Island Signs a Deal to Develop Shows for Fox via Hulu and Roku

Comedy trio The Lonely Island is going to be making stuff for Fox. The group, consisting of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and recent Golden Globe winner Andy Samberg, signed a development deal to create online content for Fox that will potentially be developed into shows for Fox and its subsidiary networks FX and FXX, Variety reports. The deal does not involve The Lonely Island creating musical content, with it focused instead on non-musical comedy that will likely debut on digital platforms like Hulu and Roku. Plans are for the trio to bring people they’d like to work with to Fox while overseeing projects created by these people, but they’ll also have the option of developing projects they write, as well. Samberg is currently starring in Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which took home two Golden Globes last night.
