Viola Davis has joined the Shonda Rhimes–produced pilot How to Get Away With Murder, where she’ll play a “brilliant, mysterious criminal defense professor,†according to the show’s breakdown. She and her law students “become entangled in a murder plot that will rock their entire university and change the course of their lives.†Sounds intense! The pilot was written by Grey’s and Scandal writer and producer Peter Nowalk, and will be produced under the Shondaland umbrella. Davis was on six episodes of United States of Tara in 2010 and was on the short-lived Traveler in 2007, but this is her first major TV role in a long time.
