Ben Stiller’s Next Two Film Projects Are Super Serious

After taking a big dramatic turn in 2013’s Walter Mitty, Ben Stiller is continuing his foray into serious movies with his next two projects. According to A.V. Club, Stiller is in talks to star in Alan Ball’s upcoming film I Am Chippendales, which tells the tale of Somen Banerjee’s rise to success as the famous male strip club’s founder who later hired hit men to kill some of his associates. Stiller will play one of those (alleged) associate victims Nick DeNoia, Banerjee’s choreographer and business partner. Aside from Stiller’s dramatic acting work, he’s also reportedly in talks to direct The Current War, a historical drama about Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse’s race to become American electricity pioneers, which apparently involved debates over alternating versus direct currents, smear campaigns, and the electrocution of circus elephants, so yeah, not funny at all.
