On last night’s Game of Thrones, ethereal Icelandic trio Sigur Rós made an appearance as Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding band. And their version of the unofficial Lannister anthem/ode to mass slaughter “The Rains of Castamere†(Spoiler alert: Joffrey is not a fan of Sigur Rós) appeared over the episode’s end credits. The National was the last band to cover the ominous track, and we can’t help but think that the gloomy choice of cover artists might have something to do with the abnormally high body count at Westeros weddings. Next time someone on the show is planning their nuptials, may we suggest something something more uplifting? Kesha, perhaps? Listen to the haunting cover below.
