Sydney Street Style: Neon Skirts and Feminist Jackets
Today was the last day of Sydney Fashion Week, and while it may not be the new London, there’s no denying that street stylers made a colorful and eccentric showing. Australian runways were a sea of digital prints — from Haryono Setiadi’s ocean-themed patterns and Karla Spetic’s pearl-themed crotch imagery — and styles on the sidewalks were correspondingly eye-catching. Showgoers sported now-requisite kooky clutches (blogger Nicole Warne carried a watermelon-shaped one), but also, some trends we didn’t see in New York or Europe: namely, bold feminist slogans on T-shirts and jackets, and garments in every shade of neon imaginable. Australian designer Poppy Lissiman showed off an impressive collection of brightly colored skirts, from metallic-green leather to highlighter-yellow lace, while Elle editor Danielle Prescod wore an Azede Jean-Pierre jacket covered in appliqué ants (previously seen on Solange).
