Tonight, HBO released the first full-length trailer for Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta’s upcoming post-apocalyptic drama The Leftovers. The show, which is based on Perrotta’s 2011 book of the same name, takes place three years after two percent of the world’s population disappears in an sudden, rapture-like event, and explores what happens to those left behind. Apparently, their troubles are far from over. As one character puts it,“Some bad sh*t’s coming and there’s no getting around it.†The James Blake–scored trailer is even more ominous than the recent teaser, with more than enough sex, violence, and vague yet evocative symbolism (Someone plunging into water! People holding hands while leaping from a building! A deer!) to whet our appetites for the June 29 premiere.Â
